Missionary Ridge Camp #63
Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
Department of Tennessee (including Alabama)

This meeting was held at 1 PM, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Wally's Restaurant in East Ridge, Tennessee.

Members present: James Fletcher, Mark Kemp, Mark Steele, and Robert Dobbs;
Associate Member present: Harvey Scarborough; guest present: Wilma Fletcher

CALL TO ORDER: Commander Fletcher called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 PM ET.

INVOCATION: Commander Fletcher gave the opening prayer.

LUNCH: At this time, the attendees went through the buffet line and ate lunch. Following the meal, the Commander resumed the meeting at 1:55 PM.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commander Fletcher led the camp in the pledge to the flag of the United States of America.

OLD BUSINESS:
New Camp in our Area: Harvey Scarborough reported that he had not had an opportunity to discuss further the efforts of a local group of reenactors that are interested in starting another SUVCW camp in this area. He hoped to know more when the group met again the weekend before Thanksgiving for a Living History event on Lookout Mountain.

Anna Lee Smith Dobbs Memorial Ceremony: Robert Dobbs stated that nothing further has been done toward setting a date for a memorial ceremony honoring Anna Lee Smith Dobbs (October 8, 1916 - March 17, 2011), Robert Dobbs' mother and real daughter of a Union Soldier. He said that interest is still there, but getting everyone together is a problem. It was mentioned that a GAR marker could be included in the service as well.

NEW BUSINESS:

Treasurer's Report: No report was given.

Pvt. James Watkins: Robert Dobbs brought up the prospect of having the Camp purchase a flag to honor Union veteran James Watkins. Each year, the Camp has a Memorial Day service at his family's cemetery in the Old Mill Subdivision. The City of Ringgold honors all Catoosa County veterans on Memorial Day and Veterans Day by displaying U. S. Flags on the main thoroughfares through town. The Camp was in favor of the idea. Mark Kemp agreed to check into what would be required to add Pvt. Watkins to the flag memorial.
