This meeting was held at 1 PM, Saturday, December 9, 2012 at Wally's Restaurant in East Ridge, Tennessee.

Members present: James Fletcher, Mark Steele, Charles Engle, Bill Massey and Robert Dobbs;
Junior Member present: Sam Hood;
Associate Member present: Harvey Scarborough;
Guests Present: Bill Harmon, John Hood, Preston Brown, Kay Dobbs, Wilma Fletcher

CALL TO ORDER: Commander Fletcher called the meeting to order at approximately 1:00 PM ET.

INVOCATION: Chaplin Bill Massey gave the opening prayer.

LUNCH: At this time, the attendees went through the buffet line and ate lunch. Following the meal, the Commander called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Robert Dobbs led the camp in the pledge to the flag of the United States of America.

Guests Acknowledged: All visitors and guests were introduced at this time. It was noted that Junior Member Sam Hood was finally able to attend today's meeting, but has not been able to due to the many activities he is in that take place on Saturdays. Also present was Bill Massey's guest, Bill Harmon. Bill may be joining the camp very soon. Harvey Scarborough's guest, Preston Brown, is also a potential member who is getting interested in the SUVCW.

Minutes from the November 10, 2012 Meeting: Secretary Engle read the minutes from last month's meeting.

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Engle reported that the Camp's treasury has a balance of $539 with no outstanding obligations. He reminded those present that dues are due again which are $27/year.

Upcoming 150th Anniversaries: Secretary Engle reminded everyone of the 150th Anniversaries of the great battles coming soon, such as: Fredericksburg and Stones River. Next year is the anniversary year of 1863 that has many key battles to remember, including those in the Chattanooga area. Several mentioned that they would be going to the actual battlefields on or near the actual dates; and, a few indicated that they would be reenactors at several battles.

John Whitman: Secretary Engle also noted the passing of real son John Whitman of Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 15 at the age of 88. Whitman was a WWII veteran. His father, Nathaniel Amos Whitman, joined the Union army at age 15 and was in Company L of the 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry. It was noted that very few "Real Sons" remain.

Past Camp Commander: It was noted that Charles Engle has had 10 years of continuous service in Missionary Ridge Camp 63 and has served as Camp Commander. He has not received his Past Camp Commander's badge; and, he has requested the same. It was so noted and approved to award Charles Engle the Past Camp Commander's badge.

December 2012 Meeting

Since there were no contested positions, all members present acknowledged the nominees as duly elected to the positions so stated. Chaplin Massey conducted the installation ceremony and oath of office.

NEXT MEETING: It was decided to have the next meeting on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Chickamauga Civil War Show at the Dalton Trade Center.

BENEDICTION: Chaplin Bill Massey gave the Benediction.

ADJOURN: There being no further business to come before the camp, Commander Fletcher adjourned the meeting at approximately 2:35 PM.
