This meeting was held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Wally's Restaurant, East Ridge, TN. Prior to the meeting, those attending participated in a fine buffet meal.

Those present: John Sims, Nick Norwood, Jeffrey Webb, Mark Kemp, Tim Hill, Harvey Scarborough, Alma Webb and one guest.

Call to Order: Commander John Sims called the meeting to order at approximately 1:15 PM.

Pledge of Allegiance: Commander Sims led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States.

Opening Prayer: Commander Sims led the group in prayer.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer's Report: Secretary-Treasurer Mark Kemp gave the Treasurer's Report. He stated that the Camp has a balance of $1,198.90. He reported that there were several bills presented today that he must pay; and, he has received dues from two members today. He further stated that the Camp has plenty of funds on deposit. Following his report, he passed checking account statements to Camp Council Member Jeff Webb and Camp Commander John Sims for their review.

The Secretary-Treasurer also provided 2017 Membership Cards to those paid members present. He said he would mail the remainder of the cards to paid members who were not present at this meeting.

Frameable SUVCW Camp Membership Certificates: Commander Sims reported that he received 10 blank SUVCW Membership Certificates (Sims showing one above). To reimburse the Camp, any paid member wishing one with their name and date of membership must pay $5 to receive it.

NEW BUSINESS:

Name Badge Buttons: Commander Sims brought to the meeting samples of a Camp Membership button that will have each member's name. Attendees would be encouraged to wear buttons at future meetings which will help identify members from prospective members.

2017 SUVCW National Encampment: Commander Sims reminded those present that the 136th National Encampment of the SUVCW will meet in Lansing, Michigan August 10 - 13, 2017. More information should be available through the Department of Michigan website: www.suvcwmi.org. Commander Sims reported that he plans to attend and encouraged others to attend as well.

2017 Department of Tennessee (including Mississippi and Alabama) Encampment: The Department's Encampment this year will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 in Murfreesboro, TN. More details will follow when available.

Wreaths Across America: Member Nick Norwood stated that the Wreaths Across America was a very big success this past December. He thought it would be appropriate for the Camp to decorate the two Union Graves at the Chattanooga Confederate Cemetery later this year. Those present all agreed. Nick will provide more information later in the year. As of now, it is scheduled to be Saturday, December 16, 2017.

Program: Camp Commander John Sims presented this month's program. He spoke about his own Civil War ancestors, on both sides, and the unusually similar injuries that they all received during the Siege of Petersburg.

Following the program, Nick Norwood voluntered to present the program at the next meeting. Commander Sims asked that each of those present remember their Civil War ancestor by name. This was done just prior to the Benediction.

Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held here at Wally's Restaurant, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1 PM.

Adjourn: There being no further business to come before the camp, Commander Sims adjourned the meeting at approximately 2:45 PM.

Benediction: Commander Sims led the Camp in the following benediction - "Peace be to the ashes of our Union dead and honor be their memory."

Closing Prayer: Commander Sims concluded the meeting with a closing prayer.
